JOURNAL · HIS FERTILITY
Does he need to be tested? Yes, in the first round.
It is sequencing, not blame. His test is the simplest in fertility care, and doing it first can save her months of tests and treatment.

Why we test him first: it's sequencing, not blame
Why his semen analysis comes in the first round, and what it saves both of you.
A normal count doesn't always mean normal sperm
Count, movement and shape are separate. What a 'normal' report can miss, and what to ask next.
WHEN A RESULT IS NOT NORMALWhy treat a low count if ICSI is planned anyway?
ICSI needs only a few sperm, so why look for a cause? Because some causes can be treated, and some matter for his own health.
The post-ejaculation urine test: what it looks for
When little or no semen comes out, this simple test checks if sperm are going backwards into the bladder.

Male infertility
The causes, the tests after a semen analysis, and what can be treated.
Low sperm count
One low report is not a diagnosis. What happens next.
Sperm DNA fragmentation
An extra test for selected cases, and when it is worth doing.
Ejaculation problems
Common, treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of.
ICSI and PICSI
When sperm needs help in the lab, and when it doesn't.
Questions men ask us.
Still unsure? Ask us on WhatsApp — a real person replies.
Can a man be infertile and feel completely healthy?
Yes. Most sperm problems cause no symptoms at all, and only a semen analysis shows them.
Is one abnormal semen report a diagnosis?
No. Sperm results vary from sample to sample, so an abnormal result is repeated before anything is decided.
If his count is normal, is he in the clear?
Usually, but not always. Count is one line on the report; movement and shape matter too, and a few couples need a further test.
How is the sample given?
He gives the sample privately at the clinic after a few days without ejaculation, and the lab gives exact instructions when you book.
One test. Then we both know.
Book his semen analysis on WhatsApp. You can write as little as you like; we'll send the instructions and a time.
